1. 4x4 Excursion:
Duration: approximately 2½ - 2 hours.
This combines a 9.5km ride through the mountains in a double traction vehicle, with a short trekking. The journey is highly varied, crossing diverse landscapes; the Caterina River, Plains of the Burned Forest, Parrot Hill, and higher rocky zones, which were covered by the Glacier at one time. The trekking is on a loose rock path to the view point, where one can see Lake Guillermo and a small part of the Upsala Glacier. During the water journey, a complete explanation is given on the region’s glacial and geologic history. Upon returning, lunch will be eaten in El Quincho.  The old part of the estancia has been restored into a refined and comfortable space, created to enjoy a different perspective of the world, while being protected from the winds that sweep the southern world.  A typical Patagonian lamb on the spit is offered, accompanied by a variety of salads, humita empanadas, and a selection of homemade desserts. Drinks and coffee included.

Recommendations: The short walk is on uneven, sloped and rocky ground.  It has a duration of approximately 15 minutes on a polished rock track that can be slippery at times. We recommended wearing suitable footwear (trekking shoes or rubber soled tennis shoes).

2. Fossil Canyon Walk:
Duration: 5 hours (including stops at interest points and for lunch)
The same route as the 4x4 Excursion, but return on foot. The walk is down a path that descends into Fossil Canyon. This unique canyon is characterized by thousands of fossils that have been discovered through the course of glacier action. The guide will take you to a good place to have a rustic style lunch with drinks included.  Continue walking down next to 100 meter walls for a bit, then follow the footpath to the Fishing Lagoon,  and to the old part of the estancia.

Recommendations: This walk is for people accustomed to walking in nature and/or  doing periodic physical activity. We recommended the activity to passengers between ages 12 and 65.

3. Horseback ride with panoramic views of Glacier Upsala:
Duration: 5 ½, 2 hours including stops at interest points and a rustic lunch with drinks included.

Season: All year.
Distance traveled: 160 km
Road conditions: 100% unpaved, gravel roads.
Services: Bilingual guides daily.
Departure: 9:00 hs.
Return: 17:00 hs.
This park has been declared Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO due to the glaciers that give the park its name - about 47 of them in total – and show a cold and savage, 10 thousand year old world. The most famous one is the Perito Moreno Glacier, located in the extreme south west of Lago Argentino, 80 km from El Calafate. The glacier, which takes the name of the great 19th century Argentine explorer, is of the few advancing glaciers in the world.  As such, it has turned into one of the greatest natural shows in South America.
Every once and a while, its 60m high front gives off large ice sheets the size of buildings, which fall into the waters of Brazo Rico or Iceberg Channel, and drift through the Channel towards the main body of the lake. But that’s not all! When advancing, the glacier approaches the Magellan Peninsula on the far bank of the lake.  It even reaches the footbridge and viewpoint sector. The cycle takes from 4 to 6 years and finishes by dividing the lake in two. The Brazo Rico is dammed, and it rises in level by approximately 35 m. The water slowly drills a tunnel in the front of the glacier until the pressure makes it collapse. The show is indescribable. The water hurries in as gigantic  swells, soon initiating the process once again.

GUALICHO CAVES
Departures: 10:00 hs. and 16:30 hs.
Duration: 2 ½  hs.

Visits to the site show rock art and original paintings, along with reproductions from the Santa Cruz province.

Then, it starts its 60 km journey towards the old section of Estonia Rincón.  Throughout the excursion, guides will accompany us, relating characteristics of the estonia. You will hear cattle histories of Santa Cruz, and will get to know flora and fauna of the Patagonian steppe.
Once having arrived at the ranch, we will go to Matera, a place shielded from the Patagonian wind on the shores of River Santa Cruz.  There we can enjoy the mate tradition, learning about its history, production and meaning. Those who wish, may have coffee, mate cocido and try the estonia’s homemade pastries. Then, there’s the possibility to do activities, like taking a walk on the shores of River Santa Cruz.
Motorbikes and Horseback riding with an additional cost.
Horseback rides are subject to the availability of horses at the estancia.  In the case that people exceed horses, two trips will be made, one during the sheep shearing demonstration.  (Those people LOSE that demonstration).
After the activities, we will meet with a ranch hand, who will give us a demonstration of dogs herding sheep from the corrals and pens.  There, he will explain what it’s like working with the sheep, and tourists can have direct contact with them, if so desired.  Next to the corrals is the barn, where there will be a sheep shearing demonstration with scissors and clippers, finishing with wool classification.
After we’ll go to the guanaco corral, where the tourist will interact with them and can even feed them with a bottle. To finish the trip, we’ll have lunch or dinner in the Quincho Restaurant, accompanied by a show of national folklore like: tracks, carnavalitos, malambo and tango. The Quincho Restaurant has a viewpoint, a fishing show and a boutique.  After having coffee, we will begin the return to El Calafate, leaving passengers in their respective hotels.
